GREENWOOD CEMETERY is an historic non-denominational cemetery, sited on a scenic 1.5 acres, 2 miles from downtown La Pointe on Middle Road. Burials date back to the 1890s and there are many family plots representing succeeding generations of both island residents and long-time summer residents. The cemetery is studded with numerous old-growth white pines that offer a peaceful setting. The town crew does a great job of maintaining the grounds. ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY is also an historic cemetery, connected with one of the oldest Catholic Churches in Wisconsin. Many of the burials preceed the Civil War and its surroundings and placement with the church, are a true gem in downtown La Pointe. (Not owned by the Town of La Pointe).
