Community Awards Committee

The Town of La Pointe, Community Awards Program is a means for the Town of La Pointe to formally recognize individuals and groups who provide service for the good of the community by working above and beyond expectation.

The Awards Committee is comprised of up to five members who are approved by the Town Chairperson and confirmed by the Town Board. The committee meets at least quarterly to plan, promote award opportunities review nominations and make recommendations to the Town Board for award recipients.

Nomination Forms are available at Town Hall and on the Community Awards program website and may be made throughout the year. The Community Awards Committee will review nominations, including prior year's nominations, and make recommendations to the Town Board.

Nominations are due by October 31 of each year.

Announcing 2019 Town of La Pointe, Community Award Recipients

On May 24, 2011, the Town of La Pointe, Town Board resolved to recognize and honor “positive contributions made by citizens and community organizations for the good of the Town”. On behalf of the Town of La Pointe, Community Awards Committee, we're honored to announce our 2019 Community Award Recipients.

Julie Stryker~ 2019 Community Appreciation Award

In recognition and appreciation for her boundless and stellar volunteer service and initiative working above and beyond expectation for the good of the community. Some may know Julie as the welcoming voice of “Helloooooo Madeline Island” when opening La Pointes extra-ordinary and popular 4th of July Firework Festivities, and one of the creative forces behind La Pointe Center’s, Positivity Children’s Theatre.


Marcia and Burke Henry ~ 2019 Town of La Pointe Hall of Fame

In recognition and appreciation of this dynamic duo’s lifetime achievements and cumulative impact on the La Pointe Community including (Marcia Henry) tutoring Island Students, annually performing in the Madeline Island, 4th of July Parade marching band, collectively coordinating and hosting the LaPointe Center for the Arts, Opera Society and Book Clubs, Burkes’ service as Town Board Chair, consultation and participation on multiple committees, volunteer leadership and service as Master of Ceremonies for numerous Madeline Island 4th of July ceremonies.
